Bio

Do you ever catch yourself in a moment of involuntary pause by a subject that has captured your absolute undivided attention? Grabbing onto those fleeting moments of awe, of observation, are what drives my desire to want to paint and create. When a subject grasps me so completely, I long to translate it into a work of art. Art is my way of interacting with and understanding my perceptions. My style is ever-evolving, as I have been painting and drawing since I was a child. Though I have no formal degree in the field, I spent a month in Ascoli Piceno, Italy plein air oil painting.

Recently, my paintings have evolved to focus on details of light and illumination. I have always been drawn to capturing the stark contrasts of light and dark. In life we walk a line of light and dark. Some days we exist in the light, where we find moments of connectivity, joy, or peace. Other days we find ourselves in the dark, struggling with understanding, purpose, or value. I find those contrasts in every subject in very literal or figurative ways, and I like to study them in depth in a simple picture.
